Patriotic Rice Krispies Treat Pops

Growing up, Rice Krispie Treats were one of my all-time favorite snacks. They were easy to make and fun to eat.

With July 4th approaching, we decided to elevate the classic Rice Krispie Treats into vibrant tri-colored pops!

While they may not be the “healthiest” snack, I believe in allowing my kids to indulge occasionally.

To create these, here’s what you’ll need:

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • 10.5 ounces Marshmallows
  • Red Food Coloring
  • Blue Food Coloring
  • 8-12 Popsicle Sticks
Ingredients for Rice Krispies Treat Pops

Begin by melting 1 tablespoon of butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.

Once melted, add a third of the marshmallows and stir until fully melted.

Mix in enough red food coloring to achieve a bright hue, then remove from heat.

Line a loaf pan with parchment paper and lightly spray with non-stick spray.

Add a third of the Rice Krispies cereal and stir until well coated.

Mixing Rice Krispie Treats

Use buttered hands or wax paper to press the mixture firmly into the pan.

In a second saucepan, melt another tablespoon of butter over low heat, then add another third of the marshmallows, stirring until melted.

Remove from heat and mix in a third of the Rice Krispies cereal, coating well and pressing it into the pan.

Finally, for the last layer, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter and marshmallows in the saucepan, adding blue food coloring for a bright blue finish.

Mix in the final third of the Rice Krispies and press into the pan as before.

Adding Sticks to Treat Pops

Insert popsicle sticks at spaced intervals and let the entire treat cool completely.

Once cooled, lift the entire block from the pan and cut into individual pops.

Enjoy your festive treat!

Great recipe to make with the kids. We love rice krispies treats. These are much more colorful than the usual plain ones we make, and they have a stick! Awesome!
