Making a New Year’s Resolution can be challenging, but this year, consider involving your furry friend in the process. After all, they are truly man’s best friend, and you wouldn’t want to let them down!
Looking to include your dog in your resolutions? Here are some ideas.
Explore a New Hobby – Does your dog love the outdoors? Start hiking together. If they’re a fan of water, consider kayaking—many water-loving dogs enjoy this activity! There are plenty of hobbies to explore together; check out Meetup.com for local groups that offer fun activities for dog lovers!
Improve Oral Hygiene – When you last visited the dentist, did they ask if you floss daily? Probably! And chances are, that answer was a little fib. Oral health is vital for both you and your pup. Make it a resolution to floss regularly, and don’t forget to brush your dog’s teeth daily to help combat stinky breath!
Stay Active! – One common New Year’s resolution is to exercise more, which is often broken. If this is your plan, include your dog in it! Aim to take your furry friend for a one-mile walk five times a week!
Eat Healthier – We all know the drill: reduce processed foods and consume more whole foods. Focus on fruits and vegetables instead of chips and sweets. As you work on your eating habits in 2017, ensure your dog enjoys wholesome meals too. Read the ingredient labels, and find affordable, nutritious options. I recommend the new Beneful recipes featuring real meat—like beef or chicken as the first ingredient, without added sugar.

Makes me wish I still had a dog. Good things to think about.

As often as I can, we take the dog with us. He is getting older, but he loves to dig, run, and sniff. He really enjoys going out to the country, where we can let him loose at a friend’s house. I walk him a lot; he is my walking buddy. He is a good boy, and taking him along feels natural to me.

I can see how a dog could be a great motivator to get moving. They do wonders for emotional well-being too!
