Hidden Kisses | Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I decided to rummage through my recipe box and came across this gem that I clipped from a magazine over 20 years ago and had never tried.
I decided to give it a shot. It features a delightful combination of chocolate chip cookies and Hershey’s Kisses. What could possibly go wrong?
The ingredients are incredibly simple:
- 1 bag (9 oz) Hershey’s Kisses
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup chocolate chips (the recipe suggests mini, but I used regular)
While preheating your oven to 375°F, enlist a helper to unwrap the Kisses. Ethan had a great time with this task, and enjoyed tasting a few as well!
In a large bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until well combined. Gradually mix in the flour until the mixture is smooth, then fold in the chocolate chips.
Scoop a tablespoon of dough, place a Hershey’s Kiss in the center, and mold the dough around the candy to form a ball.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until set. Just a heads up from Ethan—10 minutes might feel like an eternity for those watching!
Let the cookies cool slightly before transferring them from the cookie sheet to a wire rack for full cooling. Serve as is, or enhance with a chocolate drizzle.
Chocolate Drizzle
-
Combine 1/4 cup chocolate chips and 1 tsp shortening in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, stir, and if necessary, heat for an additional 20 seconds or until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
My family loved these and devoured them all! I’m excited to experiment with different flavors too, like dark chocolate or maybe even almond Kisses. The options are endless!

I have all the ingredients to make these today. They sound so delicious! I just can’t resist sweets, even though I keep telling myself to cut back. Maybe after this batch!

I just made my first batch, but the mixture was too dry to form into dough. Did I miss adding eggs? I did end up adding them so I could mold the dough around the Kiss. I double-checked the recipe, and I don’t see eggs listed. I topped some with Nutella, which I love!
