DIY Craft | Family Tree Scrabble Style
For our 25th wedding anniversary, my oldest daughter surprised us with this charming family tree wall hanging. I absolutely adored it and wanted to share this idea in hopes of inspiring a creative and relatively easy gift for someone special in your life!
Supplies you’ll need:
- Scrabble letters for the names/words you’d like to spell
- Two contrasting pieces of scrapbook paper
- Scissors or a razor blade to cut the heart shape
- Adhesive for attaching the letters
- A shallow shadow box frame to display your project
My daughter arranged the Scrabble letters until she found a layout she liked, then chose where to place the heart.
You can follow her method (cutting a heart out with contrasting paper underneath), or create a “floating” heart using contrasting paper reinforced with a thicker backing. This way, you can use double-sided adhesive pads for a floating effect.
Once assembled in a shallow shadow box, you’ve crafted a keepsake that will be treasured for years!

I’m going to use this idea to make a gift for my best friend who is expecting a baby in November. Thanks for the inspiration! I think I’ll post on the local yard sale FB pages to see if anyone has any Scrabble letters laying around.

You can buy them on Etsy or check Save On Crafts. They will give you double the letters you need, so maybe you can make two. Happy crafting!

I’m in love with this! My mom’s favorite thing is Scrabble, so this would be a great gift for her—affordable too!
