Apple Shaped Rice Krispie Treats

As fall rolls in, it’s time to celebrate apple season! If you’re homeschooling or just want to whip up a fun treat, these apple-shaped rice krispie treats are a fantastic choice. My kids love these delightful surprises, especially since marshmallows, candy, and fruit roll-ups aren’t everyday items in our home.
Yield: Approximately 18 treats
Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 10.5 ounces marshmallows
- Red food coloring
- Green food coloring
- 3 Tootsie Roll Midgees
- Green fruit roll-ups

Instructions
- Cut each Tootsie Roll in half, then slice each half into 4 lengthwise quarters to create 8 stems.
- Fashion leaf shapes from the fruit roll-ups to adorn your apples.
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
- Add half of the marshmallows and stir until melted completely.
- Incorporate about 15 drops of red food coloring, mixing well.
- Stir in 3 cups of Rice Krispies until evenly coated.
- Remove from heat and let sit for about 3 minutes.
- Grease your hands or use wax paper to shape the mixture into 9 balls.
- Insert the stem into each ball, shaping it to resemble an apple.
- Add the rolled fruit leaves next to the stem, if desired.
- Repeat the steps with the remaining ingredients to create green apples.

These look almost too cute to eat, but I can never resist a yummy Rice Krispie treat. They would be fun to make.
