Ingredients for Skillet Apple Pie with Caramel Sauce
- 4 large Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon, divided
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup, plus 2 teaspoons, brown sugar
- 2 refrigerated pie crusts
- 2 teaspoons whipping cream
- Caramel sauce
Cooking Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 350 F.
-
In a big bowl, mix the apples with sugar, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, and lemon juice until the apples are well-coated. Set this aside.
-
Melt the butter in a 10-inch nonstick skillet that is safe for oven use. Add 1/4 cup of brown sugar and the remaining cinnamon, stirring until blended. Boil for 5 to 8 minutes.
-
In the same skillet, lay one pie crust over the brown sugar mixture. Spoon the apples onto the pie crust. Top the apples with the second pie crust and make slits in the top crust to release steam. Brush the crust with whipping cream and sprinkle with the leftover brown sugar.
-
Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, until the crust turns a golden brown.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
